Scope
Life of Mine decline, level development and stope production.
Byrnecut commenced at the Cosmos operations in December 2001.
Initially the contract was with Sir Samuel Mines for the portal excavation and mining of the Cosmos underground mine. Over the next years, under various contract tenders and renegotiations, the scope was expanded to include the commencement of the Prospero decline and all associated underground development and production activities. Ownership of the operation changed to Xstrata, with Byrnecut ultimately completing a life-of-mine contract with Xstrata in October 2012, when the operation was placed on care and maintenance.
