Mechanised Lateral Development and Production Activities, Fleet Maintenance and Workforce Training
Jabal Sayid is located 350km north-east of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. In March 2015, Byrnecut was awarded the complete underground scope of works, including development and production for Jabal Sayid.
We were initially involved in dewatering, rehabilitation of old abandoned workings, and mining operations from 2010 to 2014, prior to the recommencement of the current mining operations.
Byrnecut’s scope of works includes decline, vertical and lateral development, paste-fill, production drilling, blasting, and haulage.
We also manage all fleet maintenance.
Using large-scale longhole open stoping methods, with a combination of cemented rock fill and paste fill, the project aims to extract approximately 1.5 million tonnes of ore per year.
Mining activities are undertaken by a multinational workforce of Saudi, West African, Australian and Indonesian personnel. Byrnecut’s safety and training systems are tailored to meet the varying cultural and employment requirements of this project.
