Ramelius Resources acquired the Mt Magnet Gold Mine, 500km north of Perth, in 2010. The project consists of numerous open pit and underground mines. In November 2016, Byrnecut was successful in securing the Water Tank Hill underground mining services contract through an open tender process. The works comprise rehabilitation of existing workings plus ongoing development and production activities at various deposits within the Mt Magnet area of mining operations. The Water Tank Hill deposit was the first ore zone to be mined by Byrnecut and was completed in 2018. The contract was extended in 2019 to include the development and production at the Hill 60, Shannons and Galaxy deposits. The site operates as two separate mines, from a central operations and maintenance base.

The Water Tank Hill decline, originally mined by Byrnecut a decade ago, has been rehabilitated and extended to provide access to the Water Tank Hill, St George and Hill 60 ore zones. Stoping operations will commence using up-hole benching methods. The Shannons deposit is accessed by a separate open pit and portal, 4km away.

The mine is accessed via sealed road from the nearby town of Mount Magnet and operates 365 days per year 24 hours per day. Personnel work a FIFO roster and are predominantly sourced from Perth and the mid-western regional area.
