Scope
Establishing and development of the Malu and Ankata Decline, all level and vertical development, longhole open stoping with paste fill production activities.

Byrnecut has been involved at BHP’s Prominent Hill underground mine since cutting the portal in 2010

Byrnecut undertake all underground activities at Prominent Hill including development, long hole drilling and charging, paste fill, stope bogging and fibrecrete batching and application.

The mine utilises large scale underground mining equipment with 21t capacity Sandvik LH621 loaders extracting the ore using remote controlled and autonomous guidance systems.

Sandvik UG haul trucks undertake all underground haulage to the surface portal, where It is re-handled by the open pit fleet.

Prominent Hill is located in the remote arid northern Woomera region of South Australia, and is accessed by gravel all weather road and air transport.

Byrnecut operate the mine 365 days per year, 24 hours per day on a fly-in, fly-out basis from Adelaide.
