Rehabilitation, decline & lateral development.
Byrnecut were re-awarded the 22-month contract for development activities at Gold Fields Australia’s Hamlet complex.
Hamlet was developed as a mine from November 2009 in the case of Athena, and the first ore came out of Hamlet in October 2011.
The project is located approximately 15km southwest of the Lefroy Mill on the St Ives Gold Mine lease with Kalgoorlie approximately 80km to the north.
This project primarily employs longhole open stoping with pillars and pastefill. Byrnecut are however only responsible for all rehabilitation and development duties at Hamlet but work closely with the underground Gold Fields Production Team.
The operation is worked 365 days per year, 24 hours per day, and we have a crew of around 50 fly-in, fly-out and drive-in, drive-out (DIDO) personnel. DIDO employees reside locally in nearby centres of Kambalda and Kalgoorlie.
