Byrnecut’s successful operations at Prominent Hill saw us invited to operate the new Carrapateena project.

Carrapateena is located 160km north of Port Augusta in South Australia and has a mine life of over 20 years.

Following a successful 10-year whole of mine operation at Prominent Hill, Byrnecut were invited to assume control of Carrapateena's intensive development and production programme.

The mine utilises an extensive fleet of modern, large scale underground mining equipment with 21t capacity.

A fully computer controlled jumbo is supplemented by conventional split feed jumbos to complete over 1000m of fibrecreted development per month.

Having successfully broken through to the surface, the sub-level cave at Carrapateena has begun to optimise for production now that the safe development of the cave has been established. The lower sub level cave is planned to transition to a block cave.

Byrnecut operate the mine 365 days per year, 24 hours per day on a fly-in, fly-out basis from Adelaide.
