Byrnecut were pleased to secure the four-year contract with Abra Mining through a competitive tender process.
Located in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, 250km north of Meekatharra and 170km south of Newman, this high-value, high-grade lead-silver project is set to be one of the world’s biggest primary lead mines upon reaching full production.
The resource was discovered in 1981 and has over the years been the subject of a number of historical and modern exploration and economic studies. The project is located within the granted mining license M52/776.
The Abra Base Metals project will be focussed on developing the mine, from the newly excavated boxcut, for later ore extraction via conventional open stoping methods.
The new site can be accessed via public unsealed roads through the Great Northern Highway. Byrnecut operate this site of a fly-in, fly-out basis from Perth, employing over 45 personnel at commencement and peaking to around 150 personnel at the peak of mining activities during the four year term. The personnel onsite will have access to all brand new facilities.
