Scope
Stope Design and Mechanised Production Drilling including workforce training and fleet maintenance.
The Dikulushi mine is in south-east DRC, in the Haut Katanga District, Katanga Province, approximately 25km from the western shore of Lake Mweru and approximately 450km north of Lubumbashi. The mine can be accessed by air from Lubumbashi or, by road from Zambia, across Lake Mweru by boat.
Byrnecut was initially engaged to undertake the optimisation of the production activities on site. This consisted of stope drill and blast design, through to execution of the mechanised drilling, blasting, and extraction of ore.
Byrnecut was later requested to take over all mining operations, becoming responsible for all mechanised lateral development and production activities, fleet maintenance, and workforce training.
Poor market conditions saw the contract terminated prematurely.
